Description
NuFlex® 302 Bath & Kitchen is a high-performance, medium modulus, one-component silicone sealant featuring an acetoxy cure system. This non-sag caulking material is specifically engineered to resist mould and mildew growth once fully cured, making it ideal for maintaining clean, hygienic conditions in kitchens and bathrooms.
It provides exceptional adhesion to a wide array of surfaces commonly found in these areas, including ceramics, tile board, laminates (such as Corian® and Arborite®), most acrylics, glass, wood, and various metals.
Formulated for long-term reliability, NuFlex® 302 offers good resistance to weathering, vibration, moisture, ozone, and extreme temperatures. It remains effective in demanding conditions, functioning down to -46°C (-50°F) and capable of withstanding extended periods up to 232°C (450°F) once cured. Its unique formulation also allows for application even in sub-zero weather without loss of extrusion performance or physical properties.
This sealant is water-resistant before, during, and after its room temperature vulcanization (RTV) cure. It boasts a 50-year durability statement and meets stringent health and safety standards, being Certified by NSF Standard 51 for food contact and GREENGUARD GOLD Certified for low chemical emissions.
Key Features:
- 100% Silicone sealant
- Acetoxy, moisture cure
- Resists mould and mildew growth
- NSF® Standard 51 Certified (Max Temp 204°C / 400°F)
- GREENGUARD GOLD Certified (Low VOC)
- Water resistant before, during, and after cure
- RTV (Room Temperature Vulcanization)
- Excellent extreme temperature performance (-46°C to 232°C)
- 50 year durability
- Can be applied in sub-zero temperatures
- Good resistance to weathering, vibration, moisture, ozone
Ideal Uses & Applications:
- Caulking and sealing around bathtubs, shower stalls, bathroom vanities, kitchen counters, and sinks
- Replacing ceramic tiles
- Creating watertight gaskets for dishwasher doors
- Sealing joints inside refrigerators and freezers
Surface Preparation & Application Guide:
For optimal results, ensure surfaces are structurally sound, clean, dry, and free from oil, grease, or any contaminants. Rinse non-plastic surfaces with acetone; roughen rubber surfaces with sandpaper and wipe with acetone. Use a backer rod for gaps exceeding 6 mm (~1/4"). Cut the cartridge nozzle to the desired bead size and puncture the inner seal. Apply a consistent bead using a caulking gun and tool the sealant immediately for a smooth finish. Allow ample time for curing in an unconfined area.
Curing Information:
Cure time depends on humidity, degree of confinement, and sealant thickness. Sections up to 3.2 mm (1/8") typically become rubbery solids within 24 hours at 25°C (77°F) and 50% relative humidity. Confined applications will lengthen cure time; test thoroughly before production. A 12.7 mm (1/2") cross-section may require 3-4 days for a full cure. Note: Releases acetic acid (vinegar-like odour) during cure.
Clean-up:
Remove bulk uncured sealant with a plastic scraper, avoiding compression into crevices. Wipe remaining uncured sealant with a cloth saturated with mineral spirits, acetone, or denatured alcohol. Clean surfaces with soap and water. Cured sealant must be removed mechanically.
Bonds To:
- Metal
- Laminates (Corian®, Arborite®)
- Glass
- Wood
- Ceramics & Tile Board
- Silicone resin and vulcanized silicone rubber
- Natural & synthetic fibres
- Painted surfaces
- Most plastics & Acrylics
Limitations:
- Not recommended for porous substrates like stone or concrete due to potential salt formation from acetic cure.
- May cause staining on sensitive natural stones (marble, granite, quartz).
- May corrode or not adhere to copper, brass, magnesium, zinc, or galvanized metals.
- Consult Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use. Use in well-ventilated areas.
