This type of screw is designed for a face frame/pocket hole application. What is a pocket hole? This is when a hole is drilled at an angle -- typically 15 degrees -- into one piece of wood that allows a screw to join to another piece of wood in a concealed fashion. Also, this screw features a type 17 point which is the self-drilling point for wood applications. This point prevents splitting and bursting of wood -- particularly for softwoods, particle board, and MDF board by displacing excess wood material from the drilled hole.
